Microneedle Solutions Ltd (MNS) originated from the collaborative minds of two University of Leeds students, whose academic journey was marked by an unprecedented global challenge: the COVID-19 pandemic. Amidst the upheaval of lockdowns and the disruption of their university lives, they witnessed first-hand the widespread impact of the pandemic and the logistical struggles in vaccine distribution. This period of crisis sparked a realization about the inefficiencies and limitations of traditional needle-based vaccine administration, planting the seed for what would become MNS.
As students navigating their academic and personal lives through the pandemic, they observed the significant health disparities exacerbated by the crisis. The challenges in vaccine delivery, particularly in remote and underserved areas, highlighted a glaring gap in the healthcare system.
